As of Jan. 19, red flag warnings are no longer in effect for Southern California; you can find the most up-to-date forecast on the National Weather Service site. The California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services lists available shelters for impacted communities.

Discover Los Angeles, Visit Anaheim, Visit Laguna Beach, Visit Santa Monica, Visit Santa Barbara, Discover Torrance, Visit Big Bear, Visit Temecula, Visit Greater Palm Springs, San Diego Tourism Authority, Travel Costa Mesa, and Visit Huntington Beach have worked with local partners to provide accommodation discounts to Southern California residents displaced by the fires. Travel + Leisure has created a list of resources that includes hotel discounts in and outside of L.A.

How You Can Help

Discover Los Angeles lists charitable organizations that are on the ground to help, including the Los Angeles Fire Foundation, the California Community Foundation, and the American Red Cross. CA.gov/LAfires provides resources for Californians and gives information on how to apply for federal assistance. Road Closures

During winter, weather in California can cause isolated road closures, especially in areas like the Sierra and parts of the Central Coast. Travelers should check specific road conditions and alternate routes with Caltrans Quick Map.

Currently, Highway 1 is closed in Monterey County south of Big Sur, but Big Sur is accessible from the north.
